'Whaterver comes to mind'

Ellen experiments and combines traditional and innovative materials. While searching for tension in her work, atmospheric and graphic elements, and figuration and abstraction alternate dynamically. This fascinating exploration yields a broad oeuvre of paintings, collages and work in casting resin.

Ellen's visual language remains recognizable. In both the experiment and in her loose, almost careless brushwork. Her focus is on wonder, on being open. For whatever comes to mind. The creation process is leading. Her work is usually narrative, but not always. Ellen: "The absence of a title or fixed meaning makes it possible to see in the work whatever is on the viewer's mind. As a mirror of that self. Truly looking at art thus becomes a complex and layered experience."
