Participation in Stars on Canvas
What an incredibly enjoyable experience it was to participate in Omroep Max's 'Stars on Canvas'!
In this program, various prominent figures surrender to the insightful gaze of three painters and the provocative questions of presenter Özcan Akyol. What do they reveal of themselves? And what do they hide? At the end of the episode, the celebrity can choose one painting to take home. The remaining canvases are auctioned off for a charity of the celebrity's choice.
After each broadcast, bids can be placed on these works via the 'Sterren op het Doek' website. My two fellow artists and I had the honor of portraying comedian and actrice Plien van Bennekom. The broadcast aired on Saturday, November 8th, at 8:40 PM on NPO2.
Curious about what it was like? You can watch the broadcast again via Uitzending Gemist. A short behind-the-scenes recap can be found here.

Second portrait of 'Hilda' acquired by the Elise Mathilde Fund Foundation
Just received a message that my portrait 'Hilda' (13x13cm, incl. frame 32x32x7cm) will also be added to the collection of portraits of the founder of the Elise Mathilde Fund .
The fact that no fewer than 2 of my versions of this special lady have been acquired makes me happy and grateful!
I would like to thank the board, the director and supporters, as well as the Dutch Portrait Prize Foundation, for their dedication and enthusiasm for the Elise Mathilde Portrait Competition.

My work 'Litmus' is one of the Fair Director's Picks for the Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam 2025
This week's AAF blog was about the favorites of exhibition director Blythe Bolton. And one of my works just happened to be among her picks. I'm thrilled with it.
Curious what she has to say about the work "Litmus"? Read more here.

Selected for Almenara Art Prize 2025 online exhibition
The Almenara Collection is an online and social media platform that connects artists, art lovers, collectors, galleries, and other prominent figures in the art world.
Almenara Collection organizes the Almenara Art Prize, an international online painting competition. They encourage international participation in various genres, styles, media, and substrates, including hyperrealism, impressionism, and contemporary realism . The number of submissions seems to be enormous. So I'm delighted that both of my entries are included in the online exhibition, which runs until early November.
The selection for the exhibition in Cordoba has now been announced (15/9). Only 50 of the 3,000 works have been selected. Congratulations to the selected artists!
Be sure to check out Almenara Art Prize 2025. My work is featured in the Figurative and Portrait categories.

Dear Elise purchased by fund
In 2025, the Elise Mathilde Fund celebrated the 90th anniversary of Elise Mathilde van Beuningen's founding. While some photographs of this remarkable woman have survived, no portrait of her had ever been made. The fund recently changed that.
In collaboration with the Dutch Portrait Prize, the foundation organized a portrait competition. From the 236 interpretations of Elise Mathilde, 22 works were selected and, along with the nominees for the Dutch Portrait Prize, were included in the exhibition "THE PORTRAIT" at Slot Zeist last summer.
On June 5th, the jury announced the winner: Edwin van den Dikkenberg had captured Elise Mathilde at her core with his charcoal and graphite drawing, according to the jury.
Artists could submit one to three works. I submitted a painted portrait and two free interpretations in resin. I was delighted that my small portrait was among the 22 portraits exhibited at Slot Zeist.
But even better, one of the resin sculptures has been purchased by the foundation. How cool!
All entries have been included in a catalog. Beautifully done. Kudos to the Elise Mathilde Fund Foundation, the Dutch Portrait Prize, and Slot Zeist.
